I know I have blogged about Ocean City, Maryland already although that was last year. This year most of the same people went back down the beach with me, however there were some new ones too. We still had Edward, Phillis, and Chazmanian, but we added three to our wolf pack: J-bird (J. Darvill), Shakespeare (W. Hutton- Chazmanian’s little brother who came over for three weeks), and Garchief (A. Garcev). This time was also pretty different from last year, mainly due to the time of our recent trip.
This trip helped me see that Ocean City can be seen differently and can accommodate many different types of people. Our first trip together last year on the fourth of July was much more for the party atmosphere than anything else really. However, this year was much different.
This year we could not get down the beach together until last weekend which was August 8th. The timing was very important for why the trip was different than usual. And by different in no way do I mean not fun. We were only one week away from preseason and getting ready to play, so any kind of partying was out of the question. So, in some ways this trip was more relaxing than others. We spent most of the day on the beach playing with a soccer ball until we got so hot we had to get in the water to cool off. Then we would lay on our towels and dry off until we repeated this process over and over many times. After a long day on the beach, we headed back home to eat then take the jetskis out to tube in the bay. This was how we spent our couple of days in Ocean City. The nights were very relaxed for once, which was nice. We spent our nights eating out at dinner, getting ice cream, playing putt putt, or watching movies.
Although our time spent in Ocean City was much shorter than we would have liked and even though we were nowhere near ready to leave, we still had a great time like usual and now it is time for preseason to start up again.

Texas
During last winter’s break, I went to Texas to stay at one of my teammates’ houses, Joey Dussault. A group of five of us flew down after our last exams. Since it was pretty cold here I could not wait to get down to the south. After looking at the weather before leaving it was looking pretty promising that we would finally get away and get some sun in their seventy and eighty degree weather. This is exactly what happened. Besides a day or two of rain which just blew over in a couple of hours, it was nothing but sunny and warm.
It was perfect weather, even though it was still winter time, we had Joey’s pool and hot tub to remind us of the summer days. It was nice to be able to get away from the cold since summer is my favorite season anyway.
So, we flew into Texas and could feel the warmth of the air as soon as we got off of the plane. As we waited for our bags we found Mr. Dussault awaiting our arrival. After getting our bags, we went to the car and headed to Joey’s house in Fort Worth, Texas. We saw plenty of the typical Texas cowboys and farm land on our way home. As soon as we got to his house, the first thing we did after putting our bags in our rooms was head straight for the pool and hot tub. After all the cold weather back home and the buildup of anxiousness that pool and hot tub felt great.
For our five day stay, most of the time was spent in Joey’s backyard either playing basketball, swimming, lounging by the pool, relaxing in the hot tub, or trying to rope Tomcat’s (Joey’s younger brother) fake cattle. However, we did get a lot of site seeing in too. One day we spent at the Stockyards in downtown Fort Worth, where years ago they used to bring cattle through packed on trains. While we were there Joey took us in the saloon where Chuck Norris’, Walker Texas Ranger is filmed. I asked the lady working if Chuck was coming in but she said no. Later that night we went downtown again to Billy Bob’s, which is the largest honkeytonk in the world. Two of the days we had some interesting times on the golf course which was probably due to people building their houses too close to the course, but hey that’s just my opinion. Anyway, on the third day the Dussault’s had friends and neighbors over for a party. This was the first time I ever had crawfish which the south is pretty known for they said. They were pretty good too it kind of tasted like shrimp to me. On the fourth day, we went to Joey’s friends ranch for a couple hours of skeet shooting and driving around in the back of his brothers truck looking for hogs, which are common there. After some disappointment in not finding a hog, we headed back to the house to get ready for the Dallas Mavericks basketball game, which we went to and they won the game to make the playoffs. Before the game we walked around Dallas and got to stand on the X in the middle of the road where Kennedy was shot and we got to see the building from which he was supposedly shot from.
On the fifth day we went to the golf course for one more round before going back to Joey’s to pack before our flight. It was nice and relaxing to get away from the cold and get some sun and warm weather while we were there; it was one of my favorite/most fun trips ever!

2 days on the water
The traveling has been settling down as we get closer to preseason on August 14th. However, there is still a lot going on until then. Last weekend was my friends 20th birthday. He decided he was going to have his party on Saturday. He lives right on the chespeake bay across from Heart Miller Island.
So, i decided to stay in Friday night to make sure that i was not tired at all for Saturday since i was going straight to his house as soon as i woke up and we would be doing different activities all day long and late into the night.
Since he lives on the water, he has a boat, two jetskis, a catamaran, a kayak, a tube, wakeboard, and water skiis. During the day we put most of them to good use. As soon as i got there we took the jetskis out for a little before other guests got to his house. After a quick little ride we came back in and set up the volleyball net for an intense game of the best two out of three. After getting hot and sweaty, back to water we went. This time taking the jetskis out with the tube and wakeboard for some extra excitement. We spent most of the day on the water until the sun was about to go down before it was time to set up the extracurricular activities for the birthday boys festivities.
After a long day turning into a long night, we woke up the next day to a rainy, cloudy day. I then went home and after taking a short nap the sky cleared up and the sun was back out again. So, we decided to take our jetskis out this time with my dad, brother, and cousins to tube some more in Essex. It was a pretty calm day out since it just rained earlier that day, so atleast it was a little more relaxing than the day before even though i like when the waves are big it gave us some time to settle down before classes started again Monday.

nationals in boston
Last week I traveled to Boston, Massachusetts for the National championship for club soccer. We flew up there two days before our first of four games. Our flight was at eight in the morning so we could be ready for practice at three. As soon as we flew into Boston we had an hour drive to our hotel. When we got to our hotel that had known we were coming for at least a month now, our rooms were still not ready. So, we put all of our stuff in a parents room and we all went out to eat before we came back to get ready for practice. After practice, our rooms were finally ready and we all checked in before we went out for dinner, which most of the week happened to take place at the Longhorn right down the street.
The second day we did not do too much besides eat and have practice again to get ready for our first game against some Georgia team the next day. Also, we had to be in bed early anyway since our game was at 9:30.
Day 3: we wake up around 7:30am to take showers and get our stuff ready before we go down to eat breakfast in the hotel. We finish up around 8 to head to the fields for our game. During the game we end up getting a red card in the second half due to a stupid ref like usual, so we played a man down for the rest of the game. No goals were scored and it ended in a tie causing us to have to win the next game.
Day 4: One of the worst days since we had to be up about the same time as the sun because our game was at 7:30 in the morning! We were playing some team from Indiana. Were down 1-0 due to an early first half goal. After fighting back, we got a penalty kick in the 91st minute to tie the game and then we end up scoring again two minutes later to win the game and put us tied for first place.
Day 5: since we won the day before we could go through to the National final with a win or a tie. Although we would like the win, we were satisfied with the tie after being down once again to a goal early in the second half off bad defense. Late into the second half we go again and get another penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1 and off to the National Final.
Day 6: Is an off day to rest before the final. This day consisted of nothing more than eating and Xbox really. However, our younger Under-15 team was also in the final and there’s was on this day. So since we were off we all decided to go to the game, but not without stopping at the dollar store and Dick’s to get some noise makers and air horns. With our support they won the game 2-0. After the game and dinner it was off to bed for the big game the next day.
Day 7: The best day of them all. We ended up playing the same Georgia team that we played in our first game and tied 0-0 with. However, today was a new day. We did not play too good the first time against them so we were ready to change that this time. After 2 goals late in each half we won the game 2-0 and were crowned National Champions for the 3rd time in our teams 4 years together. Then it was back home to Baltimore and time to celebrate!

OCMD
For the Fourth of July I always go down to our place at the beach (Ocean City, MD). However, last summer was a little different because we celebrated the Fourth of July with some of my English mates. How ironic for the Fourth of July it was America and England reunited on such a special day. It was there first real time at Ocean City, so it had to be a good time.
We were down for about 5 days. After our summer school classes, of course, we headed down on a thursday night. During our three hour trip which seemed like forever, we stopped at McDonald's to eat and hydrate for the night ahead of us. When we finally got to the beach we unpacked, took showers, and got ready to go out to my friends place to hangout.
The next morning after everybody waiting for edward to get out of bed, we went to the beach for the first and only time. The water was freezing since it was still kind of early in the summer, but we got in anyway. After a day at the beach, we went back to the place, took showers, and ate before we started our everyday evening activities which had to do with red cups and two ping pong balls.
For the next day and the rest of our trip we had the same routine...Wake up around 11 or 12, go out on the boat and jetskis, come back around 5 or 6, shower and eat, then start our extracurricular activites before we would go out.
While on the jetskis we tubed in the bay some and went out in the ocean to jump the waves by Assateague Island. After jumping some waves i stopped and told Eddie and Steve to stand up and stretch and as soon as they did, i took off leaving both of them in the ocean. What's funny about that is we later found out from some of my dad's friends, that the spot we were jumping waves and where Eddie and Steve fell in is where they go fishing for sharks because there is a shipwreck there so there are lots of fish for the sharks to feed off of. We did happen to get the shark off of Eddie's leg. However, we had not heard from Steve, but there are rumors he is now in school back in England.
